Ryan’s #ProTip

“Do your best to publicly ‘fly the flags’ of your professional or personal interests. Make sure people know what drives you. Putting yourself out there and being vocal about projects of interest, areas of desired future growth, professional goals, or even side hobbies is one of the best ways to ensure that prospective future allies become aware of your interests -- including, hopefully, any shared ones. Discovering an alignment in goals or interests can expose a stronger commonality than the obvious one. This fosters a much more natural, mutually beneficial, and less transactional dynamic for sharing advice, benefiting from each other's experiences, and combating the sense of being in this alone. You're not!”
